Removing The Cross Member

I have now removed the cross member, I did this by jacking up the car and putting it on axle stands with wood blocks on them to stop them damaging the car.I then put my jack under the cross member to support it when I undo the bolts. With that there I set out to undo the cross member. I managed to get all the points undone apart from one of the rubber mounts so I had to take out the bolt that goes through it(see picture above).
I then started to lower the cross member down on the jack but it would no come down level so I would end up damaging the discs and running gear. So I lean over the car and grab the cross member by the engine mounts and kick the jack out the way and lower it down myself.
With the cross member out I start to strip it down of all its gear, first of all I took of the disks this is simple but messy just take of the cap in the middle and undo the nut and the discs just slide off. Next job was the all the steering rack and anti roll kit. This again is just bolts but be careful no to round them off or you will be up the creek. With most of it off now all thats left to do is take off the springs and the spats. What I did, that I don't recommend is just undo the bolts and hammer them out and let the springs just bounce out. The only reason I did it this way was because the springs where absolutely had it no a bounce left in them. Otherwise use spring compressors.
Now I have the cross member all stripped down I have decided to have it sand blasted and painted. So that will be done this weekend.
